Drunk Driver Arrested Along Parade Route

31-year old Jason Racicot of Jasper was arrested Sunday after attempting to drive on a closed street during the Strassenfest Parade.

Police say Racicot attempted to turn east onto 15th Street from Main Street.

But he was flagged down by an officer at the intersection.

Jasper police say when the officer started to explain to Racicot that 15th was closed due the parade, the officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle.

JPD says Racicot failed field sobriety tests at the scene.

Police says a chemical test done later at Memorial Hospital indicated Racicot’s blood alcohol content was .20%.

Racicot has been charged with operating while intoxicated with a minor passenger; that’s a level 6 felony in Indiana.

Jasper Man Charged After Alleged Domestic Battery Incident

A Jasper man is now facing misdemeanor charges of domestic battery and disorderly conduct following an alleged incident Monday night at his near westside Jasper home.

Jasper police arrested 35-year old Joshua Fullerton. Police were called to Fullerton’s home in the 400 block of west sixth street at about 6:15PM Tuesday.

JPD says Fullerton had left the home on foot before officers arrived.

He was located a short time later near 5th and St. John Streets about two blocks from his home.

One Injured In Jasper Accident

One person was taken to Memorial Hospital following a two-vehicle accident in Jasper Tuesday afternoon.

42-year old Sarah Daum of Jasper complained of pain in her neck after he car was rear-ended by an SUV at about 4 oclock at the intersection of Newton and 26th Street on Jasper’s northside.

The driver of the SUV, 19-year old Lydia Lange of Ferdinand told police she was looking away from the road at the time.

She says she was looking for a business and did not see Daum’s car slowing in front of her.
