James R. Adams, 76, Jasper

James AdamsJames R. Adams, 76, of Jasper, Thursday (June 23) at his home. He was born in Bradley County, Arkansas, July 12, 1939, to Raymond and Barbara (Goodwin) Adams.  He married Sally Jo Sanders March 31, 1987, in Arcadia, Florida.

James retired in 1995 as a maintenance supervisor for Delco Electronics in Kokomo. Je was a Green Beret U.S. Army veteran and served in the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of Jasper VFW Post No. 673 and Jasper American Legion Post No. 147. He enjoyed running 5k races for charity, participating in martial arts tournaments, gardening, and spending time with his cat Sandy.

He is survived by his wife, Sally Jo Sanders; one sister, Marcile Davis and husband David, Eureka Springs, Arkansas; seven nieces and nephews; and a number of great and great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Martha Adams.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Foundation. Online condolences may be made at www.becherkluesner.com. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Pastor Gerald Fry will officiate. VFW Post No. 673 will conduct military gravesite rites.
