Gathering With Friends Ends With Felony Arrest



Record Year!Jasper (NNDC) – A Jasper man is now facing a felony habitual traffic violator charge after a gathering with friends early Thursday morning got out of control, according to police.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says 27-year old Raul Rangel of Jasper was with a group of friends at about two o’clock Thursday morning when he left the gathering in a car that did not belong to him, nor did he have permission to drive.

DCSD says Rangel was driving the car westbound on East 400 North when the car went off the side of the road and went down an embankment and into a ditch with approximately 1″ of water in it!

DCSD say Rangel was with the car when deputies arrived on scene at about 7 Thursday morning. Earlier, the car’s owner reported the car and Rangel were missing.

Rangel is charged with being an habitual traffic violator (Level 6 felony) and Criminal Conversion (A misdemeanor).
