Jasper (NNDC) – A Jasper man has been charged with aggravated battery after an incident Friday night at a local tavern.

Jasper police say 42-year old Jason Bohnert has been charged with a Level 3 felony count of aggravated battery after he allegedly struck another man in the face with a glass beer mug.

When police arrived at “Snaps” in the 1100 block of Main Street, officers say they found a male victim bleeding from a cut lip.

Police say they made contact with Bohnert at his home a short time later after he was positively identified as the suspect in the assault by the victim and two witnesses.

In addition to the aggravated battery charge, Bohnert is also charged with a Class A misdemeanor count of Disorderly Conduct.
