Bombers Win Again; Half-Game Out Of First

Huntingburg (Local Sources) – The Dubois County Bombers welcomed the Muhlenberg County Stallions to Huntingburg’s historic League Stadium last night for the first time. The Bombers secured a 4-1 triumph behind a balanced pitching effort.

The Stallions scored first. A pair of singles were followed by an RBI sacrifice fly off the bat of Mark Treadway to give the visitors a 1-0 lead in the third inning.

The Bombers answered immediately, pushing two runs across in the bottom half of the frame. USI’s Logan Brown and Dayton Flyer Connor Echols each had RBI base hits.

Northwood University’s Ian Dimitrie got the starting assignment for the home team. Dimitrie scattered seven hits over 6 1/3 innings, walking no one while striking out two.

Dimitri combined with relievers Brian Wichman and Connor Moroder to prevent any Stallions from advancing past second base after the third inning.

Dubois County added an unearned run in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Zach Gray. Mark Geisler’s sacrifice fly scored Macy Holdsworth in the eighth for the game’s final score.

J.D. Roberts, Spencer Schultz, Justin Ware, and Jarrett Harness each had two base hits for the Stallions. Gray and Echols had two hits apiece for the Bombers.

With the victory, Dimitrie is the first Bomber hurler to earn two wins on the young season. Moroder is the third bomber pitcher to earn a save. Stallions starter Andrew Wright takes the loss to fall to 0-2.

At 7-2, the Bombers inch within a half game of league-leading Hopkinsville. Muhlenberg County drops to 1-8.

Dubois County closes out a five-game homestand tonight by hosting the other OVL expansion team, the Paducah Chiefs. Game time is at 7 PM. Click here for complete Box Score Click Here.
