Juanita E. Weisman, 90, Portage

Juanita WiesmanJuanita E. Weisman, 90, of Portage, died Saturday Saturday (June 4), at the Valparaiso Hospice Center in Valparaiso. She was born in Haysville December 20, 1925, to Clifford and Mathilda (Neukam) Hoffman. She married Delbert Weisman April 10, 1947. He died November 29, 2006.

Juanita retired from Sears where she worked in the restaurant deli department in

Clarksville and Merrillville. She was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Merrillville, and enjoyed making cross-stitch quilts for her children and grandchildren and loved cooking and playing bingo.

She is survived by one daughter, Elaine Riechers and husband Don, Crown Point; six sons, Terry Weisman and wife Marie, Jasper, Darrell Weisman and wife Mary, Ireland, Don Weisman, Arroyo Grande, California, Dale Weisman and wife Debbie, LaPorte, Dean Weisman and fiancé Heidi, Mazon, Illinois, and Darren Weisman and wife Kim, Valparaiso; 14 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren, and one brother, Roger Hoffman and wife Rosie, Haysville.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, George Hoffman, who died in infancy.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family. Funeral services at noon Saturday at the funeral home with burial following in the Haysville Community Cemetery. Rev. Timothy Weisman will officiate.
