Jackie L. Lane, Sr., 81, Birdseye

Jackie LaneJackie L. Lane, Sr., 81, of Birdseye, died Thursday (June 9) at Golden Living Center in Tell City. He was born in Eckerty August 7, 1934, to Jacob and Bertha (Hammond) Lane. He married Pauline Bayer June 21, 1956, at the Birdseye Pentecostal Church.  She died December 19, 2002.

Jackie was a U.S. Navy veteran and served in the Korean Conflict. He worked for B&G Tire and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by one daughter, Angela Morgan; four sons, Jack L. Lane, Jr., Sanley J. Lane and wife Judy, and Bruce Lane and wife Debbie, all of Birdseye, and Randal L. Lane and wife Pennye, Pensacola, Florida; one sister, Lulabelle Bean, English; nine grandchildren; two step grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by six brothers, Ernest, Elmer, Earl, Paul, Melvin, and Andy Lane, and one son-in-law, Phillip Dale Morgan.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. (EDT) Monday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Condolences may be shared with the family online at  www.nassandson.com. Funeral services at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Pastor Bret Eckert will officiate. Burial will follow in Birdseye Cemetery. Military graveside rites will conducted by the Huntingburg V.F.W. Post No. 2366 memorial detail.
