William Edward “Ed” Lehmkuhler, 79, Jasper

Ed LehmkuhlerWilliam Edward “Ed” Lehmkuhler, 79, of Jasper, died Wednesday (June 8) at his home. He was born in Siberia September 10, 1936, to Casper and Dorothy (Dooley) Lehmkuhler. He married Mary Gutgsell August 20, 1960, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper.

Ed retired from Masterbrand Cabinets where he worked for 40 years. He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church and an adorer at the Divine Providence Eucharistic Adoration Chapel. He was a member of the Jasper Knights of Columbus. He coached little league baseball for many years and enjoyed playing golf, watching Los Angeles Dodgers baseball, Indiana University basketball, Notre Dame football, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lehmkuhler; one daughter, Kathy Christian and husband Kerry, Poquoson, Virginia; four sons, Willie Lehmkuhler, Jr. and wife Jill, Paul Lehmkuhler and wife Christina, and Glen Lehmkuhler and wife Kelly, all of Jasper, and Phil Lehmkuhler and wife Sarah, Indianapolis; 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Leon “Cas” Lehmkuhler and wife Naomi, Florida, Jim Lehmkuhler and wife Judy, Jasper, and Larry Lehmkuhler and wife Linda, Virginia.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Don Lehmkuhler.

Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Monday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The Divine Mercy Chaplet will be prayed at the Divine Providence Eucharistic Adoration Chapel at 3 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Divine Providence Eucharistic Adoration Chapel, Precious Blood Church, or to a favorite charity.
