VU Men, Led By Jasper Trio, Lead NJCAA National Golf Tournament

Chautauqua, NY (NNDC) – The Vincennes University Mens Golf Team leads after the first round of the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III National Golf Tournament being played this week at the Chautauqua Golf Club in far western New York state.

VU, led by Jacob Bartley’s two-over par 74, leads second place Georgia Northwestern Tech by three strokes.

Host school, Jamestown (NY) Community College is third at 307, along with Minnesota State Community Technical College.  Madison (Wisc) Technical College is next at 314 and Nassau (NY) Community College is fifth overall at 319.

Bartley is one of three former Jasper High School golfers on the VU team competing at the NJCAA tournament.  The others are Cameron Weyer (75), and Cameron’s younger brother Ian (78).

Bartley’s 74 on Tuesday was tied for sixth lowest on the day.  Erik Hanson of Southwest Wisconsin Technical College and Ross Moore of Nassau (NY) Community College took the day’s medalist honors with one-under par 71s.

The four-round tournament concludes Friday.
