State GOP Convention Is This Saturday

Indianapolis (NNDC) – The Indiana Republican Party will hold its State Convention on Saturday, June 11th in the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. Nearly 1,800 Delegates will gather to adopt a party platform and nominate candidates for Lt. Governor, Attorney General and Superintendent of Public Instruction.

Dubois County will send 15 Delegates to the Convention.

Regional hearings were held around Indiana in April and May to gather input for the party platform. A draft of the platform is available at www.indgop.org.  Delegates will discuss the platform and formally adopt it as a guide for 2016 candidates and Republican officeholders. Dubois County’s Delegates were elected at the May 3rd Republican Primary.

The 15 Delegates are: Don Hayes, Mark Messmer, Mike Braun, Bridgette Jarboe, Terry Seitz, Nancy Eckerle, Denny Spinner, Mary Ann Hayes, Mike Bartley, Kim Messmer, Adrian Engelberth, Deena Lewis Seitz, Wade Duncan, Shari Spinner, and Larry Jones. The current Lt. Governor, Eric Holcomb, is the sole candidate for nomination as Governor Mike Pence’s running mate.

There are four candidates seeking the nomination for Attorney General:  Steve Carter, who served two terms in the position completing those terms in 2009; Randy Head, a two-term State Senator from Logansport; Curtis Hill, current Prosecutor in Elkhart County; and, Abby Kuzma, currently serving as Assistant Attorney General. Two candidates are seeking to be the Republican candidate for Superintendent of Public Instruction: Dr. Jennifer McCormick, current Superintendent of Yorktown Community School Corporation; and, Dawn Wooten, an adjunct professor at Ivy Tech in Ft. Wayne.
