Lady Cats Come Up Short In State Tennis Quest

tleton (NNDC) – The Jasper lady Wildcats Quest for the school’s first girls tennis team state championship came up short Saturday morning in the semi-finals.

Jasper lost to South Bend St Joseph 4-1 in a match played at the Indianapolis Racquet Club Dean Road Center where the semi-finals were moved to after overnight rains washed out the tournament at its original venue at nearby North Central High School.

Though competitive in all five matches the Lady Wildcats we’re never able to gain control of the match.

Jasper’s only win in the match came at number two doubles as the cousin tandem of Jillian and Emma Seger won in straight sets.

Jasper’s season comes to an end at 19 and 4 overall. Highlights from this morning’s match to follow here on NNDC.

3. Maria Anthony – South Bend St. Joseph def. Mallory Ahlbrand – Jasper, 6-2, 6-2.

Doubles
1. Talle Corrigan | Ceci Pekarek – South Bend St. Joseph def. Emma Yarbrough | Olivia Yarbrough – Jasper, 7-5, 7-5.

2. Emma Seger | Jillian Seger – Jasper def. Mary Lyon | Nicole Pascual – South Bend St. Joseph, 6-2, 6-4.
