Aileene May Kron, 87, Gentryville

Kron obitAileene May Kron, 87, of Gentryville, died Saturday (May 28) at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand. She was born in Evansville September 27, 1928, to Jacob and Bertha (Hahn) Fischer. She married Norman Kron July 21, 1951. He died November 27, 1997.

Aileene was confirmed to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Evansville on March 29, 1942. She graduated from Reitz High School and later from Bramwell’s School of Business on December 30, 1946. She worked at Hesmer’s Inc. and Franklin Bank and Trust Company. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Evanston. In her young years she loved working on the family farm. She enjoyed playing ping pong, piano, checkers, and gardening.

She is survived by one daughter, Donna Sherman and husband Herman, Gentryville; one son, William Kron, Gentryville; one grandson, Curtis Sherman, Gentryville; one granddaughter, Amie Waninger and husband Jamie, Lamar; and three great-grandchildren, Austin, Kelsey, and Kyle Waninger. all of Lamar.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, Alan Kron.

Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. (CDT) Wednesday and from 8-10 a.m. Thursday at the Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Memorial contributions may be made to American Alzheimer’s Association or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be shared at Funeral services at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Rodney Schmeltz officiating. Burial will follow in Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery in Evansville.
