Early Morning Traffic Stop Lands At Least One In Jail

Jasper (NNDC) – A tip from the public about a possible intoxicated driver has resulted in the arrests of two people early Friday morning.

Jasper police say the caller described driver as being “all over the road” at varying speeds; almost striking curbs.

JPD officers stopped the car in the 1900 block of Newton Street.

JPD says a subsequent search of the car found marijuana and a controlled substance belonging to the passenger in the car, 25-year old Mark Irons of Jasonville.

Police also learned of and confirmed an active arrest warrant for Irons out of Greene County for battery, residential entry and criminal trespass.

Irons is charged in Dubois County with misdemeanor counts of marijuana possession and possession of a controlled substance.  Police did not release any details about the driver of the car or of any charges filed.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department, including the department’s K-9 Karma, assisted with the traffic stop and is being credited with discovering the found drugs in the car.
