Homeless Woman Arrested On Drug Charges; Was Wanted In Arkansas



Jasper (NNDC) – A homeless woman, wanted by police in Arkansas, was arrested late last night in Jasper.

Jasper police say they received a tip about a wanted person was seen in the parking lot of the Jasper WalMart store Tuesday night.

After confirming with Arkansas authorities that an arrest warrant for the woman was active, Jasper police made contact with 35-year old January Mainer, who was in her car in the parking lot when JPD officers arrived at about 10:00PM.

A subsequent search of Mainer as she was being taken into custody, Jasper police say she was in possession of small amounts of methamphetamine and marijuana. JPD says a small metallic smoking pipe was located on the driver’s seat of the car.

In addition to the Arkansas charges of Fraud and Forgery, Mainer is now charged in Dubois County with Possession of Methamphetamine (a Level 6 felony), and misdemeanor counts of Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Paraphernalia.
