Local Schools Make “Four-Star” Schools List

untitledJasper (Local Sources) – Seven local schools made the list of “Four-Star” schools for the 2014-2015 school year according to the Indiana Department of Education.

Jasper High School, Holland Elementary, Cedar Crest Intermediate (Bretzville), Ferdinand Elementary, Forest Park Junior-Senior High School, Pine Ridge Elementary (Birdseye) and Precious Blood Catholic School (Jasper), all made the list.  Precious Blood merged with Holy Family School of Jasper and St. Mary’s Preschool (Ireland) to for Holy Trinity School for the 2015-16 school year.

All seven schools are repeat recipients of the “Four-Star” designation.

To receive the “Four-Star” honor, a school must be in the top 25th percentile in two ISTEP-based categories, have earned the highest designation in the state’s accountability system and be accredited by the Indiana Department of Education.  Click here for the methodology used for schools to attain the “Four-Star” designation.

A total of 287 schools received the award throughout the state.
