Walter Guido Seaton, 95, Jasper

Guido SeatonWalter Guido Seaton, 95, of Jasper, died Friday (May 20) at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. He was born in Beechwood January 17, 1921, to Eddie Cleo and Anna (Wiseman) Seaton. He married Edwina Otto October 25, 1947, at St. Meinrad Archabbey Catholic Church. She died January 15, 2016.

Guido served as a U.S. Navy Seabee in the South Pacific and Okinawa during World War II. He retired from the Indiana Telephone Company/Contel after 45 years of service and served on the Jasper Utility Board. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Jasper Kiwanis Club, Jasper Outdoor Recreation, the Huntingburg YMI, and the VFW. He played semi-pro baseball in the IK (Indiana-Kentucky) League for the Huntingburg Merchants and the Jasper Reds. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals, Huntingburg Bombers baseball, and Jasper High School sports.

He is survived by four daughters, LaDonna Joergens and Martha Hartz and husband Tony, all of Evansville, and Lois Kuntz and Bridget Seaton, both of Jasper; two sons; Roger Seaton and wife Marla, Melbourne, Florida, and Rob Seaton, Ferdinand; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by three sisters; Violet Bullington, Ruby Johnson, and Betty Seaton, four brothers; Harold, Charles, Calvin, and Ed Seaton, and one daughter-in-law, Jenny Seaton.

Friends may call from noon to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. The Huntingburg YMI will conduct a memorial service at 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church or the Northwood Retirement Community. Online condolences may be made at Funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Joseph Church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. Jasper VFW Post No. 673 will conduct military gravesite rites.
