John H. Patton, 88, Huntingburg

jOHN pATTONJohn H. Patton, 88, of Huntingburg, died Friday (May 20) at The Waters of Huntingburg. He was born in Crawford County September 25, 1927, to Ollie and Edna Ruth (Young) Patton. He married Lois Kendall July 19, 1952, in Huntingburg.

John was a railroad worker for 10 years and in the woodworking industry, retiring from Dolly Madison Industries. He was a member of Central Christian Church in Huntingburg and First Christian Church, where he served as a Deacon. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, gardening and yard work, listening to gospel and bluegrass music, and carving wooden canes from tree limbs.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Patton; six sons, Ron Patton, Jerry Patton and wife Annette, Rob Patton, Douglas Patton, and John Patton and wife Tricia, all of Huntingburg, and Randalll Patton and wife Marie, Jasper; two daughters, Judy Schilling-Keller and husband Bill, Edmond, Oklahoma, and Debra Voegerl and husband Leonard, Jasper; two sisters, Anna Grimes, English, and Mary Faye Bath, Leavenworth; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded by two brothers, Ollie Patton, Jr. and Jesse Patton, two sisters, Bernice Mills and Irene Petry, one son-in-law, Dan Schilling, and one granddaughter, Allyson Patton.

Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Monday (EDT) at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Central Christian Church. Memorial contributions can be made to Central Christian Church. Condolences may be shared online at Funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Central Christian Church with burial following in Fairmount Cemetery. Pastor Paul Newland and Rev. Albert Madden will officiate at the service.
