Jasper Wins Boys & Girls Track Sectionals; Girls Tennis Sectional Too

Jasper (NNDC) – The Jasper Boys Track & Field team outdistanced last year’s defending champs to regain the local boys track & field sectional title.

Jasper won its 6th ever sectional with 175 points.  2015 champion Northeast Dubois was second with 93.5.  Southridge was fifth with 61 points and Forest Park was seventh in the nine team field at Jerry Brewer Alumni Stadium in Jasper with 44.5 points.

Meanwhile, the Jasper girls won their sixth consecutive track & field sectional title Tuesday night at Perry Central.  Jasper has now won 19 titles in school history.

Jasper won the title with 161 team points; Heritage Hills was second with 106.  Forest Park was fourth (70 pts), Southridge sixth (57) and Northeast Dubois was seventh (19.5)overall in the 10-team field.

And at the Ed Yarbrough Tennis Complex at JHS Thursday, the Lady Wildcats won their 27th consecutive girls tennis sectional title; 30th overall, with a 5-0 win over Southridge.  Jasper defeated Forest Park Wednesday 5–0 to advance to the finals.
