Mehne Sets Season Personal Best At IU Meet; Places 2nd Overall

FLY DARIAN FLY! – Indiana State University long jumper Darian Mehne at the Billy Hays Invitational Friday.

Bloomington (NNDC) – Former Jasper High School track and field standout Darian Mehne jumped a personal best 18′ 11.25″ (5.77m) Friday in the Long Jump at the Billy Hays Invitational hosted by Indiana University.

Mehne, a sophomore at Indiana State Universityfinished 2nd overall in the event.

Darian jump is a personal best for the 2016 outdoor season. Mehne has placed in the top 3 in her last three meets including the Pacesetter Sports Invitational hosted by ISU and the RedHawk Invitational at Miami of Ohio.

Former Southridge high jumper Cody Thompson also competed Friday. Thompson, a sophomore at Butler, placed 8th with a jump of 6′ 5 1/2″ (1.96m).

Earlier, Thompson set the Butler of 2.10 meters (6’10 3/4″) in the men’s high jump last month at a meet at Ball State.

His record jump was four inches better than his earlier previous personal best which he jumped at the Big East Indoor Championships in February in New York City.

In addition to Indiana State and Butler, also completing Friday night in Bloomington were IU, Southern Illinois, Miami (Ohio), Anderson, Hanover, Rose-Hulman, and Notre Dame.
