Eugene Leonard “Lenny” Blessinger, 73, Jasper

Eugene BlessingerEugene Leonard “Lenny” Blessinger, 73, of Jasper, died Tuesday (May 3) at University of Louisville Hospital. He was born in Jasper July 31, 1942, to Leo and Florentina (Merkley) Blessinger. He married Margaret Bohnert February 8, 1964, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper.

Lenny retired from the Jasper Cabinet Company, where he worked for several years. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper and Jasper Outdoor Recreation. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, landscaping, reading, cooking, and watching basketball and old movies.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Blessinger; two daughters, Stacey Willis and husband Chris, Allegan, Michigan, and Kristin Blessinger, Jasper; two sons, Tom Blessinger and wife Christy and Brian Blessinger, all of Jasper; four grandchildren, Blake Blessinger, Britteny Watkins, and Justin and Amy Wright; two great-grandchildren, Kaylee Carnahan and Jaxton Watkins, one sister, Jeannie Leinenbach and husband Ronnie, Jasper; and one brother, Leo Blessinger, Jr., and wife Germaine, Jasper.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters, Doris Burke, Rose Wehr, Lucy Ambs, and Bernice Miller, and three brothers, Edwin, Paul, and Conrad Blessinger.
