11th Drug Take Back Day Successful; Jasper Post Collects The Most (AUDIO)

Indianapolis (Local Sources) – This past weekend, Indiana State Police once again partnered with the United States Drug Enforcement Agency by participating in the 11th National Drug Take Back Day.

The Indiana State Police district posts accounted for 14 of the 56 locations and contributed nearly 1,400 pounds to the statewide collection results. The top collecting post was Jasper’s.

Jasper collected a total of 353 pounds of unused and outdated prescription medications on Saturday. Evansville was second with 284. Indianapolis/Marion County was third with right at 200 pounds.

Sgt. Phil Hensley says the Jasper post is always one of the top collecting posts for these drug take back days because the Dubois County community gets involved…

Hensley says the collections are a very positive thing for both the community and for the Jasper post…

Along with the state police, there were 36 other law enforcement partners/organizations in Indiana that participated in the National Drug Take Back event.

Plans are in progress for a fall 2016 collection date.
