Norman F. Brosmer, 93, Birdseye

Norman BrosmerNorman F. Brosmer, 93, of Birdseye, died Wednesday (March 30) at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. He was born in Dubois April 22, 1922, to Lawrence and Mary (Theising) Brosmer. His first marriage was to Irene Taylor October 22, 1946, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Loogootee. She died November 26, 1980. He married Dolores Hartwick on January 25, 2002, at St. Celestine Catholic Church.

Norman was a U.S. Army paratrooper and served in World War II. He was a member of VFW Post No. 673 and American Legion Post No. 147. He was a lifelong farmer and also worked for the state of Indiana at the Indiana Girls School and at Patoka Lake Reservoir. He was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church in Dubois. He enjoyed fishing, camping, square dancing, and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores Brosmer; two daughters, Diane Purcell, Zephyrhills, Florida, and Patty Englert and husband Terry, Dubois; one son, Ron Brosmer and wife Carol, Greenfield; one step-son, Jim Hartwick and wife Debbie, Celestine; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren

In addition to his parents and first wife he was preceded in death by one daughter, Jeannie Galloway, one son, Bill Brosmer, one grandson, Andy Galloway, one sister, Catherine Schnell, and one brother, Robert Brosmer.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Raphael Church or to a favorite charity. Funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Raphael Church with burial following in the church cemetery. VFW Post No. 673 will conduct military graveside rites.
