Loogootee Man Charged With Stalking With A Deadly Weapon In Dubois County

Jasper (NNDC) – A Loogootee man has been arrested in Dubois County on a charge of stalking.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says yesterday  (March 30), a female came to the Dubois County Sheriffs Department to report possible harassment, stalking, and violations of a protective order.

The woman told DCSD that a protective order had been issued through Martin County where she is a resident.   Deputies began an investigation.

DCSD says shortly after the woman left the sheriff’s department headquarters, she was notified that the suspect, 38-year old Jonathon Taylor of Loogootee, was in the area of her place of employment on the northside of Jasper watching the business.

DCSD says the woman was near the Indiana State Police Jasper Post at the time and went there for “safety.”

DCSD says a short time after that, Taylor arrived at a business parking lot across the street from the Jasper Post.    He was contacted by a Jasper City Police Department officer who had been dispatched to assist in the case.

DCSD says the Jasper officer found Taylor to be armed with a 9mm handgun in his possession.  A subsequent search of his car found a second firearm; an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.   Police say both firearms were loaded.

Taylor was arrested for Stalking while armed with a Deadly Weapon which is a Level 4 felony.  He’s also charged with Invasion of Privacy, a Class B misdemeanor.
