Charles R. Knebel, 65, Jasper

Charles KnebelCharles R. Knebel, 65, of Jasper, died Monday (March 28) at the home of his sister. He was born in Huntingburg May 25, 1950, to Linus and Edna (Kunkler) Knebel.

Charles was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a self-employed construction worker for many years and owned and operated Knebel’s Lawn Service. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and VFW Post No. 673. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

He is survived by one daughter, Christine Hamilton, Jasper; one grandson; his parents, Linus and Edna Knelbel, Jasper; five sisters, Ruth Knebel, Shirley Harter and husband Jeff, Bonnie Young and husband Greg, Mary Weyer and husband Don, and Pam Hughes and husband Ralph, all of Jasper; and five brothers, Edward Knebel and wife Anna, Terry Knebel and wife Lannette, Gerry Knebel and wife Corma, and Fred Knebel and wife, Lisa, all of Jasper, and Jeff Knebel, and wife Teresa, Haysville.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Knebel, and one nephew, Kevin Knebel.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and from 9-10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Church, American Cancer Society Research, and Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. Online condolences may be made at www.becherkluesner.com. Funeral services at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Church with entombment to follow in the Fairview Cemetery mausoleum. VFW Post No. 673 will conduct military gravesite rites.
