Lady Cats Shut Out Jeff In Softball Season Opener

Jasper (Local Sources) – Olivia Knies tosses a seven inning shutout and goes 3 for 3 at the plate to lead the Jasper Wildcats to a 3-0 victory over Jeffersonville in the softball season opener for both squads at the Jasper Sports Complex.

Knies struck out 11, while giving up just one hit and walking 2 over seven shutout innings. Knies also had a busy day at the plate, going 3 for 3, collecting two extra-base hits. She singled in the third inning and doubled in the first and fifth innings. The Wildcats collected a total of 9 hits off two Jeffersonville pitchers.

Mackenzie Brockwell took the loss for Jeffersonville, giving up a single run in the 3rd. Lizzie Coons came on in relief of Brockwell in the 4th. The Wildcats plated single runs in the 4th and 5th innings off of Coons.
