Loogootee Man Arrested On Drug Charges After Seen Throwing Items Out Of Car

taylorJasper (NNDC) – A tip from the public led to the arrest of a Loogootee man Friday night in Jasper.

Police were alerted of a pickup truck that was driving recklessly near 36th and Newton streets at about 8:30pm Friday.

JPD says a silver pickup truck was observed by an officer heading south on Newton (U. S. 231) near Baden Strasse. The truck was seen passing several other vehicles in the right hand lane.

The truck and its driver were stopped at 36th and Manor Drive at which time the driver was seen throwing items out of the vehicle. The driver was identified as 38-year old Johnathon Taylor of Loogootee.

Other officers came to the scene to assist and retrieve the items that were thrown out of the vehicle.

JPD says those items included a backpack that contained marijuana and methamphetamine. A controlled substance was found by officers inside the truck according to JPD.

Taylor was taken into custody charged with a Level 6 felony county of Possession of Methamphetamine and misdemeanor counts of Possession of Marijuana and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
