Jasper Man Arrested On Battery Charges; Alleged Victims Are Kids



Jasper (NNDC) – A joint investigation of the Jasper Police Department and the local office of the Indiana Department of Child Services has led to the arrest of a local man on felony Battery charges.

JPD says it was contacted by DCS Thursday (March 24th) of the possible battery to a child.

After talking with DCS employees and the mother of the child, Jasper PD investigators discovered there were actually two children that had sustained injuries on two separate occasions.

DCS says back on March 15th, a six-year old child had gone to school with a black eye. Schools officials, suspicious of the story the child told then reported it to DCS.

Thursday, the family had returned to DCS for a follow-up welfare check for the child, and the child’s mother.

It was at this time, a DCS employee noticed a different child, a four-year old, that had an injury on his forehead.

Jasper police says after further investigation it was detemined that the mother’s boyfriend, 25-year old Kaleb Hall of Jasper, allegedly caused the injuries to both children while attempting to discpline them.

Police say the extent of the injuries sustained by the children it was determined the discpline was excessive.

Police say Hall is now charged with two counts of Battery. The charges are Level 6 felonies due to the children being less than 14 years of age.

He is currently being held at the Dubois County Security Center without bond.
