Clarence “Pete” Schneider, 92, St. Anthony

Pete SchneiderClarence “Pete” Schneider, 92, of St. Anthony, died Wednesday (Mach 23) at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Louisville. He was born in Ferdinand September 27, 1923, to Andrew and Clella (Worman) Schneider. He married Ardella Persohn July 21, 1943, at St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Pete was a World War II Army veteran and served overseas. He was a retired Teamster’s truck driver and farmer. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Huntingburg V.F.W. Post No. 2366, the Jasper German Club, and the St. Anthony Senior Citizens. He enjoyed family, friends, and driving around the country.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Ardella Schneider; two daughters, Sharon Terry and husband Tony, Silverville, and Mary Ann Eckstein, Huntingburg; three sons, Randy Schneider and wife Gwendolyn, Kyana, Lonnie Schneider and wife Cheryl, Ferdinand, and Myron Schneider and wife Angie, Shelbyville, Kentucky; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Diana Schneider, two sons, Allen and Don Schneider, one brother, Orville Schneider, and four sisters, Grace Brosmer, Helen Schneider, Bertha Steczyk, and Anna Rose Hieichelbech.

Friends may call from 2-8 pm. Sunday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and from 9-10 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony Church. A Rosary will be prayed by members of the church at 1:45 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony Church. Funeral services at 10 a.m. Monday at the church followed by burial in the church cemetery. St. Anthony American Legion Post No. 493 will conduct military grave side rites.
