John E. Popp, 79, Haysville

John PoppJohn E. Popp, 79, of Haysville, died Saturday (March 19) at his home. He was born in Jasper February 19, 1937, to Ludwig and Arnetta (Harder) Popp. He married Grace Edrington. She died January 7, 2002.

John was a farmer and retired from Jasper Engines and Transmissions after 20 years of employment. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haysville and a member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed gardening, working outside, fishing, hunting, and riding his motorcycle.

He is survived by his partner, Marie Harder, Haysville; three daughters, Brenda Pielemeier and husband Bob, Evansville, Janet Popp and companion Bill Tomlinson, French Lick, and Diane Popp and companion Bill Henninger, Eckerty; one son, Bobby Popp and wife Becky, Petersburg, six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Juanita Hembree and husband Radus, Loogootee.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one brother, Junior Popp, and one sister, Gladys Popp.

Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner Northside Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity. Pastor Charla Grieves will officiate.
