Police Looking For JMS Vandals; Reward Increased To Find Jasper Home Arsonist

Jasper (NNDC) – The Jasper City Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in finding the person or people responsible for vandalizing and breaking into the concession stand and press box at the Jasper Middle School.

JPD says the incident occurred between March 11th and March 14th.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact JPD at 812-482-2255 or you can call the local police anonymous tipline at 812-481-COPS.

Meanwhile, $10,000 is the reward now being offered to anyone for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible burglarized a Jasper home and set a fire to it back on February 21st.

The home is at 1449 Dewey Street.

Police say shortly after 4:00AM, a male suspect entered the house and took some items while the home’s occupants were sleeping.

Police says the man then started a fire near a rear door of the house using an accelerant before leaving.

JPD says the home’s residents woke up just as the suspect was leaving the house and were able to put out the fire with minimal damage to the house.

JPD says the International Association of Arson Investigators, Indiana Chapter #14, in cooperation with the Indiana State Fire Marshal and area property insurance companies initially offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.

Now the local Community Strike Force Against Crime is offering an additional $5,000 reward.
