Huntingburg (NNDC) – A Huntingburg man was arrested Monday afternoon after police say he tried to flee the scene where his SUV got stuck in the mud.

Huntingburg police say officers were dispatched to 8th and Van Buren streets at about 2:oopm where an SUV was reported to be stuck in the mud and already caused damage to a parking lot and a yard of a commercial property at that location.

An HPD officer found the stuck SUV, but when the emergency lights on the squad car were activated, the driver of the SUV was able to drive away.

Police say Allbritton and a passenger got out of the vehicle.  The passenger gave himself up immediately, but police say Allbritton fled on foot.

He was apprehended a short time later near 7th and Cor De Lane.
