Lloyd E. Prusz, 91, Holland

Lloyd PruszLloyd E. Prusz, 91, of Holland, died Sunday (March 13) at Brookside Village in Jasper. He was born in Holland April 24, 1924, to Edward and Katherine “Kate” (Steinkamp) Prusz. He married Melba Sarah Hemmer November 28, 1947, in Holland.

Lloyd was a 1942 graduate of Holland High School. He was a retired farmer and a director of Holland National Bank. He was acknowledged for his progressive agricultural practices when he was honored with the Dubois County Conservation Farmer of the Year Award and the Indiana River Friendly Farmer Award. He was an active member of St. James Lutheran Church where he served as a trustee, deacon, and Sunday school superintendent. He enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Indiana University basketball and St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.

He is survived by his wife, Melba S. Prusz; three daughters, Martha Krohn, Princeton, Janet Townsend and husband Stu, Huntingburg, and Carol Leistner and husband Ron, Holland; one son, Don Prusz and wife Sara, Holland; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Irvin and Lawrence Prusz and Lawrence Prusz, one son-in-law, Larry Krohn, and one grandson, Trey Townsend.

Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. (EDT) Wednesday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg and from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at St. James Church. Funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. James Church with burial following in St. James Old Cemetery West in Holland. Pastor David Darling will officiate.
