Duane A. Sermersheim, 62, Huntingburg

Duane SermersheimDuane A. Sermersheim, 62, of Huntingburg, died Friday (February 26) at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville. He was born in Huntingburg November 30, 1953, to Jerome A. and Laverne E. (Durcholz) Sermersheim.

Duane was a former owner/operator of the Shamrock Restaurant in Ireland. He was a member of the Ireland Knights of Columbus and enjoyed watching sports and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by one daughter, Starla Neidigh and husband Scott, Washington; one son, Justin Sermersheim and wife Jenny, Jasper; his mother, Laverne E. Sermersheim, Jasper; five grandchildren, Brycen, Brant, and Maleigh Neidigh, Ellie Knies, and Dylan Sermersheim; four sisters, Connie Helming and husband Bernie and Bonnie Keusch, all of Jasper, and Lori Koerner and husband Matt and Carla Matheis, all of Washington; five brothers, Gary Sermersheim and wife Charlene, Mark Sermersheim and wife Sharon, and Nick Sermersheim and wife Tammy, all of Ireland, Jeff Sermersheim and wife, Patty, Stendal, and Daryl Sermersheim and wife Beth, Boise, Idaho; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerome A. Sermersheim, one brother, Reginald “Reggie” Sermersheim, brother-in-law Dennis “Red” Keusch, and nephew Derek Arvin.

Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Church or to a favorite charity.
