Lee GoeppnerLee Goeppner, 62, of Ireland, died Sunday (February 14) at his home. He was born in Ireland July 2, 1953, to Albert and Mattieline (Huber) Goeppner. He married Marlene Woebkenberg May 27, 1973, at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Ferdinand.

Lee was a retired truck driver. He worked for Haas and Carriage Transportation Company and Werner Sawmill. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, a former Grand Knight of the Ireland Knights of Columbus, a member of the Ireland Sportsman’s Club and Jasper Outdoor Recreation. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene Goeppner; three daughters, Jennifer Carrico and husband Rodney, Stendel, Terra Seger and husband Adam, Winslow, and Mandy Roach and husband Kevin, Georgetown; four grandchildren, Michael and Gabby Seger and Clayton and Grant Roach; five sisters, Rosie Jellison and husband Larry, and MaDonna Freyberger and husband Leroy, all of Jasper, and Marilyn Beier and husband Bernard, Wilma Stemle and husband Dave, Ireland, and Martha Best and husband Thomas, all of Ireland; and four brothers, Leroy Goeppner and wife Joan, and Ralph Goeppner and wife Carol, all of Jasper, Bernard Goeppner and wife Judy, Holland, and Cletus Goeppner and wife Rita, Ireland.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. The Ireland Knights of Columbus will hold a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
