Huntingburg Man Killed In 3-Vehicle Crash

Fatal Crash 1DUBOIS COUNTY (NNDC) – A Huntingburg man was killed early Monday evening in a three-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 231 between Jasper and Huntingburg.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department reports 39-year old Sameer C. Metha died at the scene around 7 p.m. after his SUV hit a patch of ice as he drove south onto the bridge just south of WITZ Road and crashed head-on with a northbound pickup truck driven by Jeremy R. Brewer, 36, of Jasper. An automobile driven by Michael Carie then rear-ended the truck.

Several witnesses stated they saw Metha’s SUV hit a patch of ice as it moved onto the bridge causing the driver to lose control and skid into the pickup. Brewer sustained a leg injury and was transported to Memorial Hospital for treatment. Carie was not injured.

The Jasper Fire Department had to extricate all three drivers from their vehicles. All three vehicles were totaled. No charges have been filed. The accident is still under investigation.
