Marie Kuper, 95

Marie KuperMarie Kuper, 95, formerly of Jasper, died Friday (February 5) at the Little Sisters of the Poor St. Augustine Home in Indianapolis. She was born in Celestine December 30, 1920, to William and Rose (Prechtel) Teder. She married Victor J. Kuper May 7, 1946, in Celestine. He died August 16, 1986.

Marie, along with her husband, operated Jasper Discount Furniture in Jasper. She was a longtime resident of Jasper, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she did a prayer hour and led rosaries for many years, and a lector at mass at Memorial Hospital chapel. She was a member of the St. Ann’s Society, Daughters of Isabella, Legion of Mary Auxiliary, and VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed golf, cards, gardening, and travel.

She is survived by one son, Gary Teder and wife Brenda, Plainfield; two daughters, Pam Wright and husband Bob, Edwardsville, Illinois, and Linda Kristoff and husband David, Carmel; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Weidenbenner and husband Bernie, Jasper; and two brothers, Edwin Teder, Cary, North Carolina, and Victor Teder and wife Nancy, Jasper.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one daughter, Kanda Kuper Haslem; one sister, Lucille Luegers; and two brothers, Lawrence and Linus Teder.

Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Friday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. A rosary will be prayed at 2:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, led by the St. Ann’s Society and the D of I. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church or to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 2345 W. 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46260.
