Drug, Shoplifting Charges Filed Against Washington Man, Woman

JASPER (NNDC) – Drug charges have been filed against a Washington man for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia following his arrest early this morning. Shoplifting charges have been filed against a Washington woman following her arrest Monday night at the Jasper Walmart.

Jasper City Police stopped Arthur C. Miller, 49, of Washington, at 35th and Newton Streets at 1:15 this morning for a non-functioning tail light on his vehicle. After learning Miller had a suspended driver’s license marijuana and paraphernalia were located inside the vehicle during an inventory of the vehicle for towing purposes. Miller was arrested on the drug charges and lodged in the Dubois County Security Center.

At 1:49 p.m. Monday Jasper City Police were notified by Walmart Asset Protection of a female who left the store with a cart of items not paid for. When approached by Walmart Asset Protection the suspect fled on foot, leaving the cart. Upon arrival, police located Ashley Hibbard, 31, of Washington, in the Walmart parking lot. The cart contained a variety of items with a total value of $643.26. Hibbard was arrested, taken to the Dubois County Security Center, and charged with theft.
