Monty H. Buchanan, 60, Jasper

Monty BuchananMonty H. Buchanan, 60, of Jasper, died Friday (January 29) at his home. He was born in Lawrenceville, Illinois June 18, 1955, to Hugh and Mildred (Montgomery) Buchanan.

Monty served as a police officer in Georgia and managed the Bob Evans restaurant in Jasper. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, and a member of the Jasper Knights of Columbus, a 4th Degree Knight. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post No. 147, serving as the post chaplain, chairman of the Boys and Girls State program, and coordinator of the Oratorical Program.

He is survived by one brother, Michael Buchanan, Bloomington; and two nephews, Bruce and Brock Buchanan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Mildred Buchanan.

A memorial mass is scheduled at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church followed by burial at a later date. The Becher-Kluesner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church. Online condolences may be made at
