Janet Sullivan, 80, Jasper

Janet SullivanJanet Sullivan, 80, of Jasper, died Wednesday (January 27) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born in Seymour September 24, 1935, to S. Frank and Dorothy (Pettit) Mattox. She married Thomas M. Sullivan in 1978. He died December 27, 2001.

Janet worked at Churchill Downs in Louisville for several years. She was a member of the Tri Kappa Sorority, and enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, decorating,
art, music, and horse racing. She was an Indiana University basketball fan and enjoyed her “granddogs”, Gracie, Coco, and Pippa.

She is survived by two daughters, Dr. Nancy Otte, Jasper, and Jullie Wedean and husband David, Sandy Springs, Georgia; one son, John “Chip” Otte and wife Rebecca, Brownsburg; three step-daughters, Patricia Helton, Marysville, Peggy Hite, Sarasota, Florida, and Mary Sullivan, California; one step-son, Robert Sullivan and wife Mary, New Albany; one brother, Richard Mattox and wife Jane, Georgetown; two grandchildren, Ashton and Ethan Otte; eight step-grandchildren; and one nephew, Benjamin Mattox

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one nephew, S. Frank Mattox II, one step-son Thomas Sullivan Jr., and one step-son in-law, James Helton.

A Celebration of Life open house will be held Saturday, Februry 6, beginning at noon, at Sam’s at Plantation Montrose, 318 W. Lewis and Clark Parkway in Clarksville. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity. To honor Janet, you are asked to start your own chain reaction of passing forward an act of kindness.
