JHS Senior Lea Newman Wins Speech Contest

Rotary pic editedJASPER (NNDC) – Jasper High School senior Lea Newman was named winner of the Jasper Rotary Club’s annual speech contest Saturday at Vincennes University Jasper Center. Lea, the daughter of Ace Newman, was presented with a check for $100 and qualifies for the Rotary district contest, which will be held March 5 in Bedford. District awards are $1,000 for first place and $500 for second and third.

Rotary speech contest rules state that the topic must be leadership, service, and the Rotary Four Way Test. The Four Way Test must be mentioned in its entirety in the speech. The Four Way Test is: Is it the truth?, is it fair to all concerned?, will it build good will and better friendships?, and will it be beneficial to all concerned? Contestants must be a high school student (or the equivalent) from any area school.
