Mabel W. Bartelt, 92, Huntingburg

Mabel Bartelt2Mabel W. Bartelt, 92, of Huntingburg, died Monday (January 18) at Brookside Village in Jasper. She was born in Huntingburg June 10, 1923, to George and Anna (Peters) Bartelt.

Mabel was a graduate of Holland High School and Lockyear Business College. She worked in Evansville during World War II making ammunition and airplane wings. Later she worked for over 30 years for the Dubois County Farm Bureau Co-op. She was a lifelong member of Salem United Church of Christ. Her favorite pastime was volunteering at Salem Church and Shared Abundance. She enjoyed genealogy and was a devoted Dubois County Bombers fan.

She is survived by her longtime best friend, Janice Castrup, Huntingburg; one sister-in-law and caregiver, Carolyn Bartelt, Huntingburg; three nieces, Terri Bartelt, Huntingburg, Cathryn Wagner and husband Gene, Celestine, and Gwen Adams and husband Randy, California; and one nephew, Thomas Bartelt, Huntingburg.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Memorial contributions can be made to Salem United Church of Christ or to Shared Abundance. Condolences may be shared online at www.nassandson.com. Funeral services at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with burial following in Fairmount Cemetery. Pastor Mark West will officiate.
