Huntingburg Man Arrested On Intimidation Charge

Huntingburg (NNDC) – Huntingburg police a man was taken into custody after he was found outside a home in the 100 block of North Cherry Lane Sunday evening swinging a baseball bat while making threats to someone inside the house.

Charged with Intimidation is 25-year old James Dixey of Huntingburg. The incident occured at about 7:00PM Sunday. No other details were made available by Huntingburg police regarding the incident.

Charges Pending From Early Monday Accident Along Indiana 164

Jasper (NNDC) – The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says charges are pending against the driver of a vehicle involved in an early Monday (January 17th) morning accident along Indiana 164 east of Jasper.

17-yeasr old Joshua Kiefer of Jasper tells DCSD he was traveling east on Indiana 164 when he came up a patch of ice just east of Greener Road. Kiefer says his vehicle lost traction with the road surface then started to spin as it ran off the northside of the highway.

DCSD says Kiefer’s car slid into a yard and possibly overturned before striking a tree in a yard. DCSD says the car continued through the yard and struck a second tree before coming to rest in the yard.

DCSD says Kiefer suffered minor facial injuries in the accident which was reported at 12:40AM Monday. He was transported by ambulance to Memorial Hospital in Jasper.

DCSD says charges are pending against Kiefer.

Huntingburg Woman Arrested For Shoplifting Early Monday Morning

Jasper (NNDC) – A 38-year old Huntingburg woman was arrested early Monday morning (January 17th) after police say she tried to steal $115 worth of closing items attempting to conceal them in her purse at the Jasper WalMart store.

Maria Serrano is now charged with Theft. Jasper police were called to the store at about 12:50AM Monday.

Birdeye Man Facing Felony Habitual Traffic Offender Charge

Huntingburg (NNDC) – A Birdeye man was taken into custody Saturday evening after the vehicle he was driving was spotted with a headlight out. Huntingburg police say they spotted the vehicle at about 6:50PM traveling west on 6th Street (Indiana 64) entering the city limits. HPD officers followed the vehicle for a short time after it was observed weaving within the westbound lane.

HPD officers say an odor of alcoholic beverages was coming from the driver 37-year old Derek Harrison of Birdseye. Police soon learned that Harrison was a already an Habitual Traffic Violator (Life Status).

HPD says Harrison then failed a field sobriety test. He was taken to HPD headquarters for a certified chemical test. HPD says Harrison’s blood alcohol content tested .15% (per 210 liters of breath).

Harrison has been charged with Operating While Habitual Traffic Violator (a Level 6 felony), and Operating While Intoxication (Class A misdemeanor).
