OWI Crash at Jasper Taco Bell Early Today

JASPER (NNDC) – A stop for tacos resulted in a one-vehicle accident and the arrest of two people on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI) early this morning.

A call by a Taco Bell employee reported to Jasper City Police at 1 a.m. today that after a couple purchased food in the restaurant’s drive thru the male driver crashed the pickup truck and a female passenger got into the driver’s seat and attempted to drive away with the male driver pushing the vehicle. The employee stated he believed both individuals were intoxicated.

Police arrived on the scene and Benjamin J. Wagner, 30, and Christine M. Ziegler, 27, both of Jasper, were arrested on OWI charges. Chemical tests revealed that both Wagner and Ziegler’s blood alcohol content was .17%. Both were lodged in the security center.
