Mary L. Kress, 95, Jasper

Mary L. KressMary L. Kress, 95, of Jasper, died Thursday (January 7) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born in Jasper October 25, 1920, to Othmar and Marie (Dupps) Bockelman. She married Otto J. Kress February 7, 1942, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

Mary was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Church and its St. Ann’s Society. She was a member of the American Legion Post No. 147 Auxiliary, serving as a past president. She enjoyed gardening, needlework, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Otto Kress; two daughters, Kaye Kress and Jane Sdidl and husband Ken, all of Jasper; one daughter-In-law, Aggie Kress, Jasper; two sons; William “Bill” Kress and wife Michelle, and Mark “Marty” Kress, all of Jasper; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Rose Killian, Jasper.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sons; Joseph and John Kress, two daughters; Marilyn and Barbara Kress, two sisters; Anna Mae Padgett and Betty Fromme, and two great-grandchildren, Kasen Geopfrich and Sawyer Beckman.

Friends may call from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. A rosary, led by the St. Ann’s Society, will be prayed at 11:45 a.m. at the funeral home. The American Legion Post 147 Auxiliary will hold a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church, the Special Olympics, or to a favorite charity.
