ST. HENRY (NNDC) – Three people were transported by ambulance from the scene of a two-vehicle accident on U. S. 231 south of Huntingburg Sunday evening.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says 23-year Daniel Bowling of Dale was traveling south on 231 at about 10:45PM when he attempted to pass another southbound vehicle.

DCSD says while accelerating during the attempted pass, Bowling’s vehicle went off the left side of the northbound lane, striking a guardrail before going back onto the highway and striking the vehicle he was attempting to pass. Deputies says Bowling’s car sheared off several posts of the guardrail before returning to the highway.

DCSD says both vehicles skidded along the highway before coming to rest on the pavement south of West 1000 South (Old Holland Road).

Bowling and the driver of the second vehicle, 27-year old Delea Graham of Chrisney, along with an infant in Graham’s vehicle were all transported from the scene by ambulance to Jasper’s Memorial Hospital.

DCSD says Bowling was later lifeflighted to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville. The extent of his injuries not known at this time.

Graham and the infant’s injuries were minor.

DCSD says charges are pending as the investigation into the accident continues.
