Betty A. Gerber, 83, Jasper

Betty GerberBetty A. Gerber, 83, of Jasper, died Sunday (January 3) at her home. She was born in Jasper July 5, 1932, to Homer and Aurelia (Troxler) Jones. She married Eugene F. Gerber June 15, 1968, in Jasper. He died January 5, 2004.

Betty was a house Parent for many years for the Dubois County Young Persons Residence Center. She was a head start teacher for SIRS and taught at Vincennes University Jasper Center for 11 years. She was also employed by the Ploetner, Beaven, and Kemker medical office and Kimball International. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella, the St. Ann’s Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, American Legion Auxiliary, Jasper Lions Club, and the Randy Travis Fan Club. She enjoyed country music, especially Randy Travis, and family 4th of July celebrations.

She is survived by two daughters, Donna Resenbeck Neukam , Jasper, and Diana Resenbeck Burch and husband Greg, Hopkinsville, Kentucky; two sons, Joe Resenbeck, Colorado, and Doug Resenbeck and wife Mary, San Diego, California; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Geneva Jones, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers, Norbert, Thomas, and Homer Jones, and one son-in-law, Ed Neukam.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. A rosary will be prayed at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home, led by the Daughters of Isabella and the St. Ann’s Society. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be made at Funeral services 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church with burial following in St. Joseph Cemetery.
