Quite A Christmas Morning Ride For Rural Jasper Man (POLICE BLOTTER)

HUNTINGBURG (NNDC) – A rural Japser man faces several charges after he was caught speeding by police in both Jasper and Huntingburg Christmas morning.

Huntingburg police, in a news release, say 21-year old Tate Redden was iniitally observed running several traffic lights in Jasper in excess of speeds of 100 mph. His car was then spotted heading south on U. S. 231.

At about 8:15AM, Huntingburg police were notified to be on the lookout for a black, two-door car heading into town.

HPD says the car, a black Nissan Altima, was observed by officers going 89MPH in a 45MPH zone in the 2100 block of U. S. 231 (North Main Street).

HPD officers then began a pursuit of the car that ended in the 900 block of east Sixth Street (Indiana 64) when the driver pulled the car over.

Redden was taken into custody. HPD says his blood alcohol content tested .15% after he was taken by police to Memorial Hospital.

Redden is charged with a Level 6 felony count of Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle as well as misdemeanor counts of Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated and Reckless Driving.

Huntingburg Man Arrested For Battery

HUNTINGBURG (NNDC) – A Huntingburg man has been arrested for allegedly pushing a woman down a set of stairs Christmas evening at a home on Washington Street.

Huntingburg police say when they arrived at a home in the 300 block of North Washington Street, they made contact with 34-year old Jason Basham. After talking with Basham, Basham took officers to a separate location where the alleged victim was. She left the house on North Washington prior to police arriving at about 6:40PM.

Police say after officers talked with the woman and several other witnesses, it was determined that Basham pushed the woman down a set of steps earlier causing injury to the woman which did not require hospitalization.

Basham was later arrested. He is charged with Battery.

Rural Jasper Woman Arrested For Shoplifting

JASPER (NNDC) – A rural Jasper woman has been arrested for shoplifting at the local WalMart store.

Jasper police say store personnel detained 35-year old Maria Rodriguez when officers were called to the store shortly before 2:30PM Thurssday.

JPD says Rodriguez allegedly failed to pay for about $60 in miscellaneous food items.

She is charged with misdemeanor Theft.
