Ellspermann In The Running For IVY Tech President’s Post

JASPER (NNDC) – NewsNow Dubois County has learned that Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann is in the running to become the new president of IVY Tech Community College.

Ellspermann is in meetings this morning at her statehouse office.  Her office confirmed she was being considered a candidate for the president’s position at IVY Tech.  The Indianapolis Star broke the story on Monday.

Current IVY Tech president Thomas Snyder is set to retire in 2016.  The college’s board of trustees will select his successor.

In a statement from her office, Ellspermann says she’s informed Governor Mike Pence of the possibility (see below).

Ellspermann is less than a year away from completing her first term as Lt. Governor.

“From time to time as I travel the state I have been approached about opportunities including most recently Ivy Tech Community College.  I am extremely honored to be considered given my deep engagement in workforce development.  While I have made the Governor aware of this opportunity, this is a decision of the Ivy Tech Board of Trustees.  As Lt. Governor I am focused on making Indiana a State that Works and improving the lives of Hoosiers.”
