Chimney Fire Causes Anxious Moments For Local Family

DUBOIS (NNDC) – A chimney fire caused some anxious moments for a Dubois family Friday eveing.

Dubois firefighters were called the home of Robert Rasche in the 5400 Block of East Sycamore Street shortly after 8:00PM.

Dubois VFD spokesman Zach Eichmiller says When first arriving units got on scene, they found a significant amount of smoke filling the home.

Fire crews used a fire extinguisher to snuff the flames and cleaned the chimney from the roof.

Family members were home during the incident; they told firefighters that smoke started to fill the home, so they called 911 immediately.

No damage was done to the home and the family was able to stay in the residence after the incident.

Arrest Made For Disorderly Conduct

JASPER (NNDC) – A 51-year old Jasper man was arrested for disorderly conduct early Saturday morning after police had been to his apartment home several times overnight after neighbors complained of excessive noice.

Arrested was John Layman, Jr. who lives in an upstairs apartment in the 1300 of Kundeck Street.

Jasper police say they found Layman stomping on his floor and yelling obscenities. Police say he refused to stop when asked. JPD obtained a search warrant and he was taken into custody shortly before 6:00AM.
