Local 4-H Foursome Wins Gold At Hoosier Beef Congress

INDIANAPOLIS (From Sources) – Four local 4-H youths claimed first place honors in the Hoosier Beef Congress competition December 5 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis.

The Dubois County Gold team of Jarrett Hopf, Klint Luebbenhusen, Cody Scherle, and Jared Schwenk placed first in the Senior Non Reasons Teams division. Dubois County Gold team members Connor Bowlin, Kyle Stenftenagel, Kaleb Stenftenagel, and Wyatt Goeppner placed second.

The Livestock judging teams are composed of any 4-H member that may or may not live on a farm or own an animal. The team learns and applies its knowledger of how to evaluate livestock by identifying parts and type characteristics. During a contest members of the team give reasons to defend their placing of an animal in a class and are judged on how well they can reason their decision of the placings.

Dubois County also had four individuals place in the top 10 in the Senior Non Reasons Division. They were Jared Schwenk (2nd), Klint Luebbenhusen (3rd), Cody Scherle (5th), and Connor Bowlin (9th).
